Kyevism. The Faith-Fueled Philosophy of Pastor Kyev Tatum
Coined by Texas State University graduate Debra Blanks, a trusted mentee of Pastor Kyev Tatum for over three decades, Kyevism names what many have witnessed but never defined: a bold and visionary philosophy shaped by lived experience, prophetic leadership, and relentless service to the streets and the sanctuary. Having stood with Pastor Tatum on the frontlines—from pulpits to protests to public policy—Debra recognized that this unique blend of faith, fire, and fearless advocacy deserved its own name.
Definition
Kyevism is a liberation-driven philosophy rooted in the faith, fight, and footprint of Pastor Kyev Tatum. It fuses unapologetic Christianity, social justice, community empowerment, and educational equity into a way of life and leadership. It exists to restore dignity, pursue equity, and unlock destiny in communities long denied all three.
The Six Core Pillars of Kyevism
1. Faith That Fights
“We don’t just preach the Gospel—we march it, teach it, and build with it.”
Kyevism refuses to keep faith locked in the pews. It mobilizes it into the streets, schools, and systems where injustice hides and healing is needed. It’s belief that breaks chains.
2. Truth from the Trenches
“We speak from the block to the ballot box.”
Kyevism centers the wisdom of the wounded and the power of the overlooked. Solutions must come from those who know the struggle—not from ivory towers or distant desks.
3. Freedom Through Faith
“If you can’t read, you can’t lead.”
Literacy is liberation. Education is armor. Kyevism equips minds and molds leaders—from barbershops to classrooms to church basements—because knowledge is non-negotiable.
4. The Church as a Change Engine
“The Black Church is not just a place of worship—it’s the headquarters for hope.”
Kyevism reclaims the revolutionary role of the Black Church—as a spiritual, political, economic, and cultural command center for building people and transforming places.
5. Justice with Joy
“We serve with fire—but we don’t forget to dance.”
From Juneteenth to gospel jazz, Kyevism celebrates culture as a weapon of resilience. In the face of pain, we praise. In the middle of struggle, we sing.
6. Radical Responsibility
“We are the answer we’ve been waiting for.”
Kyevism rejects dependency and defeat. It raises up a generation to walk in purpose, take ownership, and build tables instead of begging for seats.
The Mission of Kyevism
To raise up faith-fueled freedom fighters who are equipped to read, lead, build, and serve—so that every underserved zip code becomes a Skills City, a Healing Zone, and a Hope Hub for God’s people.
