“Rearing Our Own to Succeed While Raising Our Own to Serve”
NEW MOUNT ROSE, TX — On Sunday, June 22, 2025, Pastor Kyev Tatum joyfully announced the long-awaited launch of New Mount Rose Christian Academy, a dream first cast by the late Pastor Milford Kelly. On Monday, June 23, the Steering Committee will gather to begin shaping this transformative new chapter in Christian education—with plans to welcome full-time students in September 2025.
Thanks to the State of Texas and the implementation of the Education Savings Accounts, the academy is now poised to serve students from Pre-K through adulthood in a Christ-centered environment grounded in biblical discipline, self-respect, and a spirit of service. At NMRCA, the Bible is our first textbook, guiding every lesson, every subject, and every heart toward a life of purpose, character, and Christlikeness.
Rooted in a legacy of faith, freedom, and family, the academy will also be home to two powerful heritage programs:
• The Young Buffalo Soldiers
• The Little Miss Six Triple Eight
These programs will train and nurture students as “Christian Soldiers in the Army of the Lord,” instilling courage, honor, and heritage in every young life. Through these initiatives, we are committed to preserving, protecting, and promoting Black military history, while inspiring a new generation of servant-leaders who walk boldly in their identity and calling.
Our inaugural academic pillars—Agriculture, Arts, and Accounting—will form the foundation for practical, creative, and stewardship-based learning, equipping students with the tools to thrive spiritually, academically, and economically.
But our mission goes far beyond academics. Proverbs 22:6 is not just a banner over our academy—it is embedded into every classroom, every curriculum, and every conversation. This verse teaches us three core principles that shape the heart of NMRCA:
• Priority – “Train up a child…” — We believe education is discipleship. Every teacher is a guide, every classroom a space for growth, and every lesson an opportunity to lead children in the way of righteousness.
• Principle – “…in the way he should go…” — We teach according to God’s design, not the world’s expectations. Our curriculum emphasizes integrity, wisdom, compassion, and excellence—building strong foundations for life and leadership.
• Practice – “…and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” — While not a guarantee, this verse underscores the lasting power of early, intentional guidance. At NMRCA, we plant seeds of faith and virtue, trusting God to bring forth fruit in due season.
New Mount Rose Christian Academy is not just a school—it’s a spiritual training ground where minds are sharpened, hearts are stirred, and futures are forged in the fire of faith. We are shaping students to be literate in truth, confident in identity, and ready to serve their community, church, and country with courage and conviction.
Founded by Pastor Kyev Tatum, a pioneering leader in faith and education—former founder of Texas Preparatory School in San Marcos and former board member of Region XIII Education Service Center—NMRCA is uniquely positioned to serve the families who need it most. With deep roots in policy, programs, and the pulpit, Pastor Tatum will serve as Principal, providing visionary leadership for this God-given mission.
Beginning July 2025, the Steering Committee will meet weekly on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM at:
New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church
2864 Mississippi Avenue
Fort Worth, Texas 76104
