HALLELUJAH FOR THE HELLFIGHTERS. Ephesians 6:12 The Story of the 369th Infantry Regiment and Joseph Ulyses Lamkin of Luling, Texas. By Pastor Kyev Tatum, Black Texans, Inc. Built to Last. Fought to Win. Faith to Overcome. The Harlem Hellfighters of the 369th Infantry Regiment were not just warriors of war—they were warriors of the Word. Armed with faith, resilience, and righteousness, they fought in two worlds: one of flesh and bone in the trenches of World War I, and one of spirit and soul on the frontlines of racial injustice back home. Among these brave soldiers stood a man from the “toughest town in Texas”—Private Joseph Ulyses Lamkin of Luling. His journey is a bridge between battlefield valor and hometown legacy, between sacred duty and generational impact. His story reminds us that the struggle for justice is both spiritual and generational. THE 369TH INFANTRY REGIMENT God’s Soldiers in America’s Uniform Born out of necessity and divine purpose, the 369th Infantry Regiment—origi...

BUFFALO SOLDIERS, ICE CREAM — YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! “I don’t know if I was put here to change the world—but I do know this: we were sent to shape the hearts, stir the minds, and strengthen the hands of the next generation who will.” —Kyev Tatum Today at Camp Buffalo Soldiers, our young campers got a sweet taste of success by making their very own ice cream! But it wasn’t just about dessert—it was about discipline, dignity, and discovery. Thanks to the support of the legendary Buffalo Soldiers and our partners at Bravo Zulu Homefront, our future leaders are learning vital life skills, survival techniques, home training—and gaining a deeper respect for the historic sacrifices of the Black men who fought for freedom on and off the battlefield. At New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, we are committed to preserving, protecting, and promoting the rich legacy of the Buffalo Soldiers and Black military heritage. Through programs like Camp Buffalo Soldiers and our Skills...

LEARNING TO LEAD: “You cannot lead where you will not go, and you cannot teach what you do not know.”

LEARNING TO LEAD: “You cannot lead where you will not go, and you cannot teach what you do not know.” At Camp Buffalo Soldiers, our young cadets are learning that leadership begins with discipline—and discipline starts with marching to the same beat. Today, Veteran Pat Sterling—a dedicated and dynamic leader—spent time mentoring our young soldiers in the art of marching. Though a little rusty, they showed heart, humility, and a willingness to learn. Camp Buffalo Soldiers is a faith-based, positive youth development program held every Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM at New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth. This inaugural training session wraps up on August 2, 2025. For more information, contact Pastor Kyev Tatum at 817-966-7625.

A LEGACY THAT LASTS A LIFETIME IN LULING, TEXAS. The Joseph Ulyses Lamkin Story and the Distinguished Lamkin Military Legacy.  https://crbb.tcu.edu/clips/543/luling-town-history “The Toughest Town… with One of the Toughest Buffalo Soldiers.” LULING, TEXAS — Once branded the “toughest town in Texas,” Luling’s rough-and-tumble reputation was forged by cattle drives, railroad tracks, and a resilience born of survival. But out of its dusty streets came giants—none tougher or more trailblazing than Joseph Ulyses Lamkin. A native son of Luling, Lamkin answered his nation’s call and became one of the fiercest Buffalo Soldiers to serve in World War I. He carried the grit of his hometown into the trenches of Europe, fighting with unmatched courage in the legendary 369th Infantry Regiment—also known as the Harlem Hellfighters. From Luling to the front lines of France to the marble halls of Congress, Lamkin’s story is a Texas-sized testimony to the strength of Black patriotism, the power of l...
